Feline fights

Not long ago our family received a new addition: Becky, a cute little black kitten. For those of you who don't know, Becky has a very special story of being found and saved when she was only a few days old. Now she's a perfectly normal, very playful and cuddly kitten, and gives us lots of fun and exercise.

I was a bit apprehensive about introducing her to my older cat, Ksusha, who has gotten so used to being the only (spoiled) kitty in the family. I thought there's a chance that Big Kitty would be hostile to Little Kitty and even attack her.

I couldn't imagine that it would actually be Little Kitty who will make Big Kitty's life miserable, by being so determined to make her a playmate. She jumps at her, attempts to play with her tail, gets under her blanket when she sleeps, and only backs off when Big Kitty hisses at her or even slaps her.

"There's no place to hide from this insolent little kitten!"

"I'm too tired to do anything else at the moment..."

I do hope they will work it out between themselves eventually.

I suppose they are working out who will be boss? I'm afraid my cat just hisses at other cats; she seems to prefer humans.

They will. In the first picture, it actually looks like the white cat is enjoying herself. ;-)

They are just absolutely precious!! They are too cute. I hope everything works out for Big Kitty. :) How old is she? Or is it a he? Thanks so much for keeping us updated with them, and I really enjoy the pics!!!

Rebekah - Big Kitty is 11 years old, so no wonder it's difficult for her to get used to a new kitten.

Big kitty probably likes little kitty but doesn't want to show it. Cats are so funny.

Awww...how cute! :) Little kitty is getting so big!
Your white kitty looks exactly like my late Snow (passed away this March at 16 years old).
Snow was queen of her domain and a little prissy butt and she let my other 2 male cats know it. :) She didn't like to be bothered by those "immature males"...LOL. After a while, Bugsy and Gizmo (my male cats at the time) actually took a hint from Snow. However they did like to torture her when she was napping or something and out came the growling and hissing and swatting....LOL.
Ahh....I miss my kittys.. :( Hopefully DH and I can find a new one soon.

Thanks for sharing the pictures...they made me happy :)

Hugs!

So precious Anna. Your sweet big kitty may be an introvert who needs her space more (i can relate), your cute little one an extrovert who needs lots of interaction more. I notice she even keeps a stuffie near her so she's not lonely. It may be that you'll just end up needing to give the little one more interaction yourself, becuase if big kitty is a mega intovert she's not going to magically turn into a mega extrovert. Though im sure as time goes on she'll get used to little kitty more and there will be more peace and care between them, even if they have different needs/natures : )

Peaceful Weekend,

Wendy

Wendy - I think you're right on spot about this one. The older cat was always more quiet even when she was a kitten. She doesn't mind if the little one sits next to her, but if she tries to play with her tail, she gets a slap!

I've gone through a similar situation, so I know how you feel. :-) About ten years ago, we had an older, big cat named Sniffy when we decided to get another kitten. We named her Tawny. We were really worried that Sniffy would push Tawny around since was, first, a guy, and second, a whopping 20 pounds! Little did we know that Sniffy would ADORE her! He never once was mean to her, and often licked her. She would come up to him and cuddle beside him -- so cute! I think it took him a little while to get used to her, though. He was used to being the only cat around our house. Gradually, though, they became great friends!

Here are some pictures of Tawny if you are interested. :-) She's not so little anymore.

Mermade - your kitty is soooooo cute! So cuddly. I love calico cats. I was nurturing the hope of getting a calico kitten... but then I found Becky :)

Isn't it interesting to watch them each exert their own personality? Hugely entertaining, too! (o:

I think it's a really cute name you have for your white kitty. How do you say it? Is the K silent? I have been trying to say the name out loud. :D

I love the name Becky for a cat. Very cute pictures! They'll get along soon enough. ;)
Must be very good entertainment too!

Too funny! Our small cat, Ra, is pretty much the boss and frequently irritates our larger & older cat, Hathor. It's hysterical as Ra is a measly six pounds while Hathor is a HUGE eighteen pound cat!

Aww--so sweet! You can do like my grandmother used to do--pray for her two cats! If she saw them fighting or "acting up", she just closed her eyes and asked God to fix the problem. He always did! I used to think that was so funny! ;)

Tee Hee, Becky has a panda! :D

I've found and heard that black cats are almost always precosious (sp).

God Bless!

Becky often falls asleep near this little panda bear, or another stuffed animal. Isn't it cute? :)
