Exciting updates

Dear ladies, I don't have too much time before Shabbat, but I just had to give you all a little update.

First, to those who have been worried about us after hearing about the recent terrible slaughter in Jerusalem: me, my family, my dear chatan and his family, and everyone we know, are all fine. May God's peace and faithful guidance be with the families of the innocent murdered children at this dark hour.

My wedding ring is ready; as required, it was bought by my dear chatan with his money, and will be kept in his possession until the chuppah.

Our invitations are ready as well (see a sample below; the blank spaces contain details which I removed for security reasons) and we already started giving them out. So I can finally reveal that the Big Day will be, God willing...

... 18-th Adar Bet, 5768

... a date which is known in the non-Jewish calendar this year as

March 25-th!!!
I wish everyone a wonderful weekend; a blessed and peaceful Shabbat to all house of Israel.

Oh my goodness! I feel so behind, what happened in Israel!? I really should start watching the news/reading the news. Well, I will pray for your safety. How exciting that your invitations are in! I can't wait to hear all about the wedding and your husband!

Michelle Potter said...

Oh, no. I don't watch the news, so I didn't know there was a... a slaughter? That sounds awful. :(

But for your good news, congratulations!

BTW, on my blog I'm participating in the 5minutesformom Ultimate Blog Party, and giving away a prize, so stop by if you get a chance. (It will still be going on after Shabbat, so no hurry!)

WONDERFUL! Oh Anna! I am so very happy for you! Congratulations!!!! Thank you for sharing your exciting news with us. I also thought of you during the recent events in Jerusalem. :( Thank you for telling us.

I wish you a lifetime of great blessings, not to mention plenty of peace of mind overseeing details as you lead up to the day. If I may ask, how did you come to decide on a Tuesday? Around here, we usually see weddings on weekends. Thanks for your insight.

Oh, I'm just beside myself with glee!!!!!!!!!!! :) YAY, Anna! :) Your big day is almost here! I can't believe it's so soon; I bet you're just so excited. :)

Have you found a house yet?

I'm so happy to hear that no one was hurt. When I was watching the news coverage of that last night, I was so worried, wondering if you or anyone you knew had been injured. Praise God for His goodness in sparing your life and the lives of those around you!!

I'm glad the ring is taken care of now! Yet another thing to be able to check off the list! :)

Thanks for the great post. Have a restful and peaceful Shabbat(I'm sure you really need it, after all this planning and preparation!)

Love in Him,
Rebekah

P.S. The invitations are beautiful. I really wish I could come to your wedding and meet you in person! :)

Leah,

Some gunman opened fire at a rabbinical school is Israel, killing many and injuring quite a few as well. That's pretty much all I know at the moment.

How exciting! Best wishes for a beautiful wedding. We're all happy for you!

Is it traditional to pass out invitations so closely to the wedding?

firstly ... prayer heavenward concerning this most recent slaughter (a most appropriate word describing this atrocity). it grieves my soul.

second ... your invitation is so very elegant. i've never seen one quite like it, and i prefer yours over so many others. beautiful.

Anna, I'm so excited for you! Can you translate the Hebrew for us non-Hebrew readers?

Here in the States, Jewish Weddings are done on Sundays being as Saturday is Shabbat. Even by the time the sun goes down Saturday evening, it is too late to begin a wedding, considering all the preparations that need to be done just on the day, alone.

In Israel, the 'workweek' is Sunday through Thursday, allowing Shabbat preperations on Friday morning, and then Shabbat.

It is not uncommon here in the states to see a wedding on a weeknight, too.

Anna, sorry to jump in with the response...I just felt the need to offer some stateside insight, too.

I also find it funny how stateside, people spend a year planning a "perfect" wedding, while you've done a beautiful job in a "short" time.

Mazal Tov to you and your Chatan.

Will we see pictures after the date?

I, too, seem to be not quite up-to-date on what happened in Jerusalem recently...I'm happy & relieved that all is well with you. Thank God.

The wedding invitations are lovely, really they are. Very classic looking. I especially like the lacy corners. :o)

So few days left now, Anna. I pray they'll be good, productive ones for you & your chatan.

fondly,
Brenda

Anna -
I have not had time to comment much but I have been faithfully reading and I am so excited for you, especially this latest news! I am also so thankful that you and everyone close to you are fine.

Hi, Anna:

I also prayed for you, your family, and your chatan, as well as the families of the seminary students who were killed when I heard the news from Israel.

As I write this, you have only 18 days till your wedding! No wonder you felt that you couldn't finish your nutrition studies!

Grace and peace to you,

Sue

Prayers going up regarding the slaughter there in the Holy Land - I hadn't even heard of it (we don't have TV and I am sorely negligent about keeping up with current events)

March 25th is a wonderful date! How awesome. Beautiful invitations too!

I am so glad you and your family are all right. When I heard about this today, I immediately thought about you over there and prayed you were still well.

Congratulations!!! The invitations are so pretty too.

The invitation is absolutely beautiful.

And I have to say, the Hebrew took me by surprise. It shouldn't but did... I forget sometimes that you live in Israel... I'm horrible with other languages, and have to say I'm a little envious of those (like you) who can navigate at least two languages with aplomb.

Congratulations! I know I don't know you "in person" but it's so nice to see you so happy.

Oh my goodness Anna I am so excited for you! The big day is coming up so fast! Only three weeks away, huh?! You must be so happy! Best wishes!

I don't exactly know what happened in Israel with the killings, but I know we we will all be praying for those affected.

Great post! Good luck with all the wedding plans! Oh, do you guys know where you'll be going on your honeymoon?

Shabbat Shalom! (Ok, I KNOW it's Shabbat, but I am up at the wee hour of 4 a.m. and had some quiet time to check in.)

Oh Anna, your invitations are beautiful. So elegant. I am so excited and happy for you. :-)

When I read the news of the slaughter yesterday, I thought of you and your family. I was praying that you were safe and sound.....Glory to be God for His protection over you & yours. Peace and comfort to those involved - it hurts my heart to see the innocent blood shed.

Hoping you have a peaceful and joyful Shabbat. Hoping you have beautiful weather where you are too - it is 14 degrees here (something below celcius in your terms I believe - BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR is all I have to say. hee hee)

Shalom and many Blessings to you and yours.

I was praying for you and your family when I heard about the dreadful terrorist attack. But now...on to happy stuff:

March 25th is the big day! Wonderful Anna!!!! I'm so happy for you!! You must be bursting with excitment! Your wedding day is the day after Easter and right at the beginning of spring! What a perfect time.

If you have any leftover invitations please send one my way so I can put it in my prayer corner ~ it would make a lovely reminder to pray for your marriage!

I have good news to share: I found out yesterday that I am pregnant!! That would explain why I have been feeling so "under the weather" as of late hahha! Isn't March 2008 turning out to be grand?? GOD BLESS!!

Beautiful invitations....and yes, translation, please.
We took 2 1/2 months to plan our daughter's wedding. God provided and it was all lovely! IMHO, long engagements are NOT a good thing (and usually not necessary). :-)
