The wedding

It certainly took a long time for those wedding photos to arrive! Here they are, finally. I'm so happy to share memories from this joyful and special day with all of you, dear friends. There were literally hundreds of photos, so I tried to choose my favorites. I wish the outside shots (taken before the actual ceremony) were better; most of them were a little dark because we started rather late.
*
I also wish there were some good shots of both of us under the chuppah, and of my husband breaking the glass. As it is, there wasn't even one I felt comfortable enough with to post here. I also wish there was a photo of my husband and I holding hands for the very first time - such a dear and special moment.
*
In the second photo, you can see the food that was served in the reception. I included it just for fun; you should know I hardly tasted a bite of it.
*
The fourth picture is of me being led to the chuppah by my mother (on the right, in blue) and my mother-in-law (on the left, in black). I think there's something very wise in supporting the bride from both sides when she just might pass out in excitement. ;-)
*
Next, you will notice that my husband placed the ring on my forefinger. That's the tradition, but now I wear it on the ring finger of my right hand. During a Jewish wedding ceremony, the bride doesn't give the groom a ring, and sometimes men's wedding rings are even frowned upon as a non-Jewish custom. However, my husband wears a ring and I love it, even though it wasn't part of the marriage ceremony.
*
After the ceremony, when the dancing started, we had separate sections for men and women. Here you can see me dancing with my mother and with a relative from my husband's side. I didn't include photos of the men's section, but it was pretty much the same dancing in circles.
*
Now that I look through the pictures, I'm amazed at how little I actually remember about my wedding day. It seems as though it passed in a sort of haze. I was so happy and excited that day; but even more so on the next day, when I woke up, saw the ring on my finger and remembered that I'm now married to my beloved husband.

Thank you for sharing! What a wonderful and blessed time. As an aside our 3rd child finally decided to arrive!

In response to your other post, I am also married to a take-it-slow man. In fact I took off my watch 5 years ago and that has helped immensely! Just a thought!

Blessings on you both.

What a happy time! It is so nice to have pictures to remember. I think you did a wonderful job of designing your dress. It is so much prettier then the modern ones in the bride's magazines that dispense with modesty.

Thank you for sharing a photo of your new husband also. You look well matched. May God bless you as you grow together in Him.

What lovely glimpses of your wedding, Anna. You made a beautiful bride, love the dress! I especially appreciate the picture of your husband slipping the wedding ring on your index finger. Very special.

Sweet delights,

Oh my goodness, Anna! You look like a true vision of loveliness! That dress is really something...even if modesty were not an issue; I love the lace and the sleeves and the cut.

Thank you for sharing your photos and memories of your special day! I liked the pictures very much, they were beautiful and very interesting to see. I like your dress, especially the sleeves!
Also your post actually brought some tears to my eyes (I have my dreams...), as well as laughing a bit. Might indeed be wise with double sided support! :-) Waking up and remember you are now married must really be wonderful!
Best wishes,
Linda Marie

Thank you for sharing your pictures. You look lovely; it looks like you did something special to your beautiful long hair as well.

I was sorry to hear you were a bit disappointed with the photographs. This seems to be a fairly common occurance and it's not very fair when you've paid what is usually a substantial sum for a professional photographer.

Nice to see the groom for the first time as well! You look good together.

Thank you so much for sharing these lovely pictures with us. Tomorrow is our first anniversary, so I'm thinking so much about how wonderful weddings and marriage really are. My husband and I only managed to get one picture of the two of us, and it's a bit blurry, but well... I guess that's how it goes sometimes... but it's better to have a great marriage and not so great wedding pictures than to have great wedding pictures and a terrible marriage. :(

Blessings to you both!

You and your husband look good together! Again, congratulations and wish you a lifetime of blessed and happy life together. Mazel Tov!

Anna, it looks like such a joyous occasion! I didn't expect anything less, but it's still thrilling to get to see it. Your wedding dress is certainly beautiful, but it is definitely eclipsed by the radiant bride who is wearing it!

I am so sorry that you were disappointed with most of the wedding photos. That must be very frustrating, to have spent money on a professional and to not receive the product you'd hoped for. I'm glad that a few turned out, though-- I've heard the usual run of horror stories about special, once-in-a-lifetime events being ruined when a photographer forgot to put film in a camera or accidentally exposed the undeveloped film to the light, or similar events!

I hope you and Mr T continue to delight in your married life, and that each day brings something wonderful and new to learn about each other :) Bless you both!

(I think I recall you mentioned trying to work things out with your landlord regarding bringing the cats along with you-- if you don't mind me asking, how did that work out?)

Lovely pictures Mrs. Anna T.! I have a question. I notice that your wedding ring is on your right ring finger. Is that a Jewish tradition?

Oh Anna - your dress is beautiful - so very feminine and modest - I love all the lace! Thank you for sharing these pictures with us - I'm so sorry to hear that many of your pictures didn't turn out well. I remember being so thankful to see my wedding pictures because they helped me remember different parts of my wedding day - I was so excited/nervous - I remember that "haze" you talked about. :) Every once in awhile I take out our wedding album and marvel at how young we were (and how are two people now, that didn't even exist then - our boys) - and then I feel so grateful for the years we have shared since then and all our ups and downs. He still calls me his "Bride"... :)

Beautiful pictures Anna. You are a breathtaking bride. I have a question...could you explain more about the tradition of placing the ring on the forefinger first before placing it on the ring finger. Interesting you wear it on your right hand. We Americans wear it on our left but I have several European friends that wear their wedding ring on the right hand as well. :o) I wish you and your husband many blessings. I also absolutely loved your dress. Absolutely gorgeous!

Anna! You look SO beautiful in that dress and the pretty way you arranged your hair!

I'm so sorry about your photos. There may be something that can be done about them, though. Dark photos can be lightened, blurry photos can be sharpened (a little bit), etc. Do you have Picasa? It's a very simple, user-friendly (free) program that would allow you to make simple improvements to your photos. Just make sure to save the originals in another location before you start working (don't rely on Picasa's backup) so that you can go back if your edits don't work out.

Anna you look just as beautiful with or without makeup! Congratulations again on your wonderful marriage. I hope God blesses it fully and that you both are blessed with all that you need. How long did it take to curl all that hair? By the way, the 3rd photo is my favorite.

Hi, Anna (or should it be Mrs. T?):

From the pictures that you posted it looks like you had a beautiful wedding ceremony and a great reception. I'm sure it's a day you and you're husband will never forget.

God's richest blessings as you and Mr. T go through the journey called marriage. Marriage is not always a predictable flat freeway, but the hills, valleys, roadblocks, traffic jams, can bring you together in ways you can never imagine (and not all the unpredictable things are negative, of course).

Gorgeous! I'll bet it was the most memorable day of your life so far.

Your husband is a fortunate man, to have found such a thoughtful, dedicated wife who knows how to make a house a home. It's becoming a lost art, isn't it?

Many blessings to both of your families!

What a beautiful bride you were, Anna! Your wedding sounds great; I know exactly what you mean when you say the day passed in a sort of haze. Congratulations!!!

WOW!! Your wedding dress is so lovely! I remember searching and searching for a modest wedding gown and I finally, just as I was about to scream, I found one on Ebay and we still had to add a lace modesty panel to the chest. (What's the point of having a zillion yards of beaded satin to the floor and a plunging neckline??) Your gown is so lovely!!! It fits your entire self so perfectly and it's exactly the shape I envisioned whenever I'd think of "Anna the bride." It must have been so fun and so exciting having it made for you from scratch.

I felt the same way as you did about your wedding day ~ Afterwards I couldn't really recall much and I "relived" my wedding through the photos and the DVD. We also hired a professional photographer and he took a total of 1600 pictures (loads of which were repeats) and we hardly have any that came out well. As a matter of fact all of the photos of the actual ceremony and the signing of the marriage certificate are blurry!!!! I still haven't put together the photo album because it's so tiring weeding through 1600 pictures. I'll get there eventually.

My greed has inspired me to ask: will you post photos of your new life next????

God bless and I'm so happy that you are happy!!!!

~Michelle

Hi Anna!
Wow, you look spectacular! I also noticed that your dress is lovely just on its own...it doesn't stand out as "gee whiz, look at that modest wedding dress", yet it is both modest and stunning. Good for you!
Put the pictures that you don't care for in a box, and take them out some years from now. They will suddenly have turned into treasure.
I still enjoy your graceful writing, even as a "flaming liberal". Mazel tov! Hil

You look so beautiful! I love the dress, especially the detail around the hem and the sleeves. And you are so pretty and slender. Your husband must have been just glowing when he saw you.

I have been married a year and it only gets better! As for the take-it-slow man, I have one too! But I would much rather have that than a man who is always rushing me. It all balances out somehow.
