Home sweet home

In a few days, we plan to move into our new little home. I spent the morning sweeping and washing the floors (always fun to do while the rooms are nice and empty), cleaning the kitchen cupboards, and removing random clutter from the front yard and back yard.

The neighbours' duck spotted and recognized us as invaders as soon as we arrived, and became very agitated. He made a move right at us, ruffling its feathers and making noises that were clearly supposed to be frightening. :-)

There's still a lot of work to do: the windows need to be washed, the furniture brought in and arranged, and all our things unpacked and organized. I will also have to sort and organize all the stuff in our storage shed. I plan to do it all gradually over the course of the next few weeks.

I love our new home. We have a spacious sunny living room, a gorgeous mountain view from our kitchen window, and a clothesline in a very cosy space in our back yard. I look forward to hanging our laundry on it, and to see it swaying in the gentle warm breeze... oh and did I mention how happy I am that we are moving now, while I'm still light on my feet and it's easy for me to move around?

The picture above is from our front yard; it was taken six months ago, when we were planning our wedding and still thinking about whether this house is meant to be our home. As you can see the lawn is wild and the trees are bare; now they are heavy with beautiful pears and apples, and the grape vine has been very fruitful too.

How wonderful it is to look forward to satisfying, good work in our own sweet little home!

Oh Anna! I'm delighted for you and Mr T and the coming baby. The photo looks like I have always imagined rural Israel to look.

Best wishes.

Hello Anna - how exciting to be moving into a home that is all yours. Can you tell me please if houses in your part of Israel are detached or attached to other similar houses? I am struggling to picture them (keep getting biblical images of flat roofs etc. lol!I spent a week in Israel (the week that Mr Rabin died)but did not see many ordinary domestic scenes/environments - if you know what I mean.. Will you be as close to family and friends? I have only lived in one house since moving away from home and I would dread to have to move again because of all the clutter I have accumulated during a decade or more of a full time stressful working life. I am hoping to go part time in October and I plan to gradually get to know my house as a home (for the very first time)

You are like me. I have to clean from top to bottom any place I move into BEFORE I move my stuff into it!! That way, I know it has truly been cleaned to my standards. hehe!!
I am just so excited for you both as you move into your very own home! May the move into it be smooth and quick! :)

Anna, Congratulations on moving into your own home. That is so exciting! I am the same way, and like to clean everything before I move in to a new place. The house and yard sound lovely (so is the picture). I hope all goes well for a smooth transition into your new home.

That is so cute about the neighbors duck!!

I can imagine hoe excited you are! 4 years ago in June we moved into this house, our first home. And I was 5 months pregnant with #3, too!

Now we are on the other side. The Lord is moving us again and we put the "for sale by owner" sign in the yard last night. The Lord has slowly been separating me from this house, so I am ready and able to say "goodbye". The Lord is good! Now it is totally in His hands and we will move when He is ready.

Congratulations!

Many congratulations on the new baby and new home!

I am just wondering-did you and hubby buy this home? I have a feeling you did if you were looking at it 6 months ago.

I am hoping this is the case for you. There is nothing like the feeling of your own home.

All the best-

Jennifer

Haha my sister and I did the same thing when we moved, we shouldered the cleaning products and scrubbed the house from top to bottom! (well, I did the top and bottom; her incision required her to scrub mostly at the mid-way point so the counters and walls are sparkling thanks to her!) There's nothing quite so satisfying as moving your things into a house you know is cleaned to your OWN specifications.

Isn't it wonderful, having a garden? I can't believe the simple thrill of walking on my OWN lawn for a change instead of a lawn we share with neighbours, no matter how nice they happen to be. Your fruit trees must smell so nice; we had apple trees at our house when I was younger (and a pear tree that had no other pear tree with which to pollenate, and so never bore fruit) and I remember how lovely they smelled.

Will you post pictures of the rooms once you have them arranged to your satisfaction? I love seeing what other people do with their homes, it usually sparks a few ideas of what to do with my own :)

Oh, how wonderful to have fruit in your yard! We have berries here in Alaska, but fruit trees have a tough time here. The berries are wonderful though. It is so wonderful to go outside and pick the days harvest or to pick a bunch and make jams.

Oh Anna....it's lovely, & I'm sooo happy for you & your husband. I remember the excitement of moving into our first home. Those are such good memories. :o) I can well imagine how the trees in your yard look, laden with fruit. What a blessing that will be for your family. For some reason, I wish I knew how to say something in Hebrew to you...all I can do is wish you much, much happiness.

blessings,
Brenda

Congratulations on your new home!! Your very own home, you can decorate and do with as you deem fit is so wonderful!

Each fall I make and can my own applesauce. One family favorite is Pear Chunk Applesauce with Cinnamon. Oh, and you have the trees right in your own yard!
Blessings,
