Never been so worried

... for as long as I can remember. All the while, though life is undoubtedly at one of its busiest periods around here, I have been thinking up a long, insightful, eloquent post to put out. Now, however, I feel I just have to say it like it is: I have never been so worried in my life.

Not during the withdrawal from Gush Katif (though I was doubtless both enraged and incensed). Not during Operation Cast Lead. Not during any attack on Israel that happened since. But what John Kerry is trying to do is giving me the creeps, a thousand times over. We have so very little land as it is, and the smaller our country is, and the more jagged our borders are, the more difficult it will be to protect. And besides, who gave our government the authority to do such a thing? The land of Israel is not theirs to give away. It was promised to us by G-d. As for Kerry, I honestly believe that he's either evil, or deluded by a vision of himself "making history", at the expense of Israel's safety.

So I've been worried sick, and not just because the place where we live had been cut off in John Kerry's "peace proposal" (which will never bring peace). Our personal possible relocation is nothing compared to what might happen to Israel. I'm a sane person (or at least, I claim to be), but I've spent much of my time lately reading about the Gog and Magog war, and wondering whether it has begun already.

I, who have lived in Israel all my life and never contemplated living anywhere else, began checking out the immigration laws of New Zealand. However, I calmed down somewhat after listening to several lectures by famous rabbis. It appears that, paradoxically, though the center of the Gog and Magog war will be in Israel, Israel will also be the safest place in the world for Jews. I have no logical explanation for this, but then, neither can I explain all the obvious miracles that happened in recent years (thousands of missiles directed at Israel and almost all falling in empty areas, or hitting empty houses, etc).

All of this is another layer of our lives, which can seem so very mundane (doing chores, taking care of children, doing the shopping, etc). We are always aware of the fact that we live in a place which is, if not geographically, spiritually the center of the world.

So, here is what I have to say to anyone who might be reading: keep Israel in your thoughts. Keep Israel in your prayers. Stand by Israel, and G-d will reward you as He had promised to Abraham ("and I shall bless those who bless you").

As an American, I am so terribly ashamed of our current government and their reckless and disgusting treatment of our great ally Israel. I have felt this way for a long time, but now that it's impacted you to the point you would write about it, my shame and anger is reaching the max. As a Christian, I feel it is our duty to protect and promote Israel. No administration I can think of has been so evil toward Israel as this one, and for that, as much as I personally can be, I am sorry, Anna.

Dedicating a rosary to Israel tonight. I share your concern, and pray with you and for you.

Thank you for making your fear known, and for allowing us to pray for you.

You have the prayers of my family and my church. God is by no means done with Isreal, and one day the world will indeed see this.

We have to trust in G-d these days when political and religious leaders are not doing right things. All nations have fallen for the deception of "birth-control" and feminism to resolve problems. He doesn't want fairness.....he wants righteousness.

"Mat 15:19 For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies:
Mat 15:20 These are the things which defile a man: but to eat with unwashen hands defileth not a man."

Psalm 29:11

Psalm 122:6
Pray for the peace of Jerusalem! “May they be secure who love you!

We are praying for the peace of Israel and all her people.

Perhaps one of the reasons you are so worried is that your government is trying very hard to make you so. I suspect the Palestinians are getting the same stuff from their politicians too. I don't think either party likes Kerry. We don't like him either. Ask your government to stick him in a psych ward- he definitely needs it, and we would benefit a lot if he never came home.
But my main point is that this is theater. Politicians profit from the threat, but who is most likely to take your home? Your own government.

In addition to praying, is there anything we here in the US can do to help???

I am praying for you and your country. I've posted this to my Facebook page, as well. Our government makes me cry sometimes. I love my country, but those in Washington are doing their best to make it into a country that is completely different to anything I've ever known. My heart goes out to Israel.

August, of course. I wouldn't be half so worried about threat from without if our nation was united from within. A large part of the Israeli cultural elite is left-wing. They represent the descendants of the people who founded the state of Israel, but *NOT* the majority of people who live here today. Perhaps I should blog about it separately some time.

Thanks to everyone for the encouragement! Becky, the only thing I can think of is, if you ever have a chance to speak for Israel, use it. Do not be silent. Unfortunately, those who speak against Israel (both at home and abroad) are far more aggressive and self-confident than those who support us.

Not long ago I bought some clothes. While chatting with the salesladies, I revealed where I live. I was bombarded with tons of questions: is it safe? Why would you live there? Is that truly our land? Those questions were very earnest, and it was evident average people (not the so-called elite!) have just never heard anyone represent the West Bank settlements the way I had.

To hateful anonymous commenters, you are wasting your time. I will not be publishing your garbage.

It's hard to believe that a minority can be so loud that they lead people to believe they are the majority. I feel that about the US in many ways.

Dear Anna,
Yes. I will pray for you and your family. Our politics differ, but once again you have reminded me that there are real ordinary people at the heart of the political maelstrom. No one, be they Israeli Jew or Palestinian Muslim, deserves to live in fear.
I will pray for your family, and your country's leaders and mine.

Hello. I am an American. I woke up very early this morning and began to worry about things in my life, particularly as related to the current political and economic climate of my country. I was feeling helpless and felt the need to pray. I got online to find the 23rd psalm and meditate on it. I then looked up a blog that often has comforting words, and saw a link to your blog. I hadn't read your blog in quite awhile. When I read this post, I knew I had been led here today. It made me realize I don't have to focus on my feelings of helplessness when I can help someone else with my prayers and actions. I, too, am very upset with the stance of American leadership in regards to Israel (and on a good many other issues as well). I will increase my prayers for Israel and for you and your family. I will educate myself more on the state of affairs in Israel so that I can speak about the situation more knowledgeably. Your brave words have reached others and will not be ignored.

The Lord bless you and keep you, Anna. As an American, I too hate what John Kerry/President Obama are doing. As a Christian, I know that God wins, and in return, so do His people.

My sister and I are Christians, she called to ask if I think our families should be heading to Israel to live ,maybe she is reading this too, Yes indeed God wins! As an American I am disgusted with our country's leadership, Israel is in our prayers and I vote pro Israel leaders everytime! It is a real priority for many in America . Many of us feel God has given us Obama and the leadership we have because of the sins of our country turning it's back on God. I pray for my country to turn back to God . I pray for the safety of Israel , and of your family , but mostly I pray we will all stand with God. Karen

Anna, my heart goes out to you and to all of Israel. As an American, I am disgusted by my country's current foreign policy and the terrible trajectory that we are on. I too have been looking at immigration laws for other countries, but
I don't know where to go. May you and all Jews find peace and security in your promised land.

I,too, am ashamed at the current administration is doing in regards to Israel and in other matters. I love my country but know that God has a special plan for Israel and it is not governments that will have the final say. I remember my horror at what happened in Gaza and also the money that was poured back in to the area from the US after the removal of the Jewish people there.
Praying for you and for Israel and for wiser men to prevail in our government.
